Dreamcatchers
Alright, this game has a special place in my heart and to this day I still want to make it real. However, it's way too ambitious and overwhelming of a concept for me as a solo developer. Rationally, I'd need a team so I am shelving the project for now. But here's the proof of concept and the actual idea behind the game!
The idea is you're THE Dreamcatcher, you're a hero of Dreamland sent from an unknown place to save the land from Nightmares. Each boss is a legitimate horrorifying creature you must fight. The game starts cute and cheery but the boss fights and worlds of nightmares are exactly that. Nightmares. It's a boss horror game with a platform action spin.
Each boss you defeat is absorbed into your Dreamcatcher where you're able to upgrade your skills and/or items. Hense the name, Dreamcatcher!
You start the game with 3 choices the Sword, Shield, or Wand. Once you choose you're locked in for the rest of the playthrough and depending on your choice the game will change slightly but your influence over the world will change drastically. I'll explain below each choices purpose.
Sword:
You are a killer, ruthless and only here for the action. This is a aggressive option and fast pace, no slowing down!
Left click to hit, Right click to throw
Shield:
You are more concerned with protecting yourself and others, but can reflect damage back at enemies to fight. This is a defensive and challenging option.
Holding Left Click will block (Reflecting Projectiles)
Wand:
This is a special class as only the wand can access certain spots of the levels and discover secrets and lore of the game that neither of the other classes can discover. Additionally, this class would have a magic bolt projectile to fight that requires energy.
